Ecology Study In School ‍

Ecology Study In School ‍

In Britain, secondary school students will study the basics of ecology.

The pitch occurred after an environmental campaign in the country. In September 2025, schools will be spreading awareness about the current situation in the world. That way, a new generation may find ways of handling it.

We agree that such subjects as climate change and biodiversity should be brought up in school, for perhaps, those young people are our only hope to make a difference.

Istanbul Beach Guide

Istanbul Beach Guide

Apicturesque city straddling the coasts of two seas is a perfect summer vacation spot. Istanbul is not only the cultural center of Turkey, but also a prime destination for those who prefer relaxing beach holidays. Istanbul is washed by the Black Sea in the south and Marmara Sea in the north; it also has access to the Bosphorus Strait. Naturally, the choice of beaches is overwhelming. Start your way to the glistening water surface and step into the sand – but which one? Let’s delve deeper into this sea-deep question.

Private or Public?

Generally, beaches in Istanbul can be divided into private and public ones. Private beaches usually have better facilities and more diversions, but it is more of a tendency than a rule. Public beaches, if chosen wisely, offer the same level of service as some private ones. However, there are private beaches hosting some special facilities and attractions, like water trampolines, Wi-fi, or spa – so you can choose a specific private beach that suits you best.

Marmara or Black?

Marmara Sea beaches are concentrated in Fenerbahçe and Caddebostan districts. They are suitable for family holidays, since the water entry is not steep and the water is generally warmer and less deep than on other coasts. Public beaches here often feature chairs, parasols, and changing stalls.

Princes’ Islands deserve special mention. Also known as Adalarami, it is a cluster of 9 islands, located in the Marmara Sea. They are called Princes’ Islands because during the Byzantine Empire, members of nobility, who went against the rulers, were exiled here. As for today’s state of affairs, the islands are a popular destination. You can get to the islands by ferry from Istanbul, the ride takes an hour or two.

Black Sea beaches can be mainly found in the European part of Istanbul. Nice sandy beaches stretch out beyond the city limits, and some hidden gems are located a certain distance away from Istanbul. Mostly private beaches, and many of them quite high-end; vacations here are definitely more lively.

Unsure which beach to choose? Here is our list of recommendations.

There are beach paraphernalia rentals, toilets, showers, and a rescue boat.

Florya Beach

The picturesque district of Florya houses two beaches. There are sunbeds and parasols available for rent, as well as a first-aid station, changing stalls, restaurants, and a parking area. Güneş Beach in Florya is favored by the locals – clean sea makes it one of the best beaches in Istanbul.

Teos Beach

Teos Beach is situated on Kinali Island, one of the most picturesque of the Princes’ Islands. The Monaco Grand Prix, Or The Major Race Of Formula One

The Monaco Grand Prix, Or The Major Race Of Formula One

Formula One is a world racing championship and the most prestigious competition for drivers of open-wheel racing cars. In Formula One, drivers and technicians compete for the titles of World Driver’s Champion and, respectively, World Construction Champion.

The Monaco Grand Prix is the most important car race in Formula One and in the world. It lasts four days and is held on May 29th at the Circuit de Monaco. It has already been held 78 times before this year. All the participants are required to overcome a distance of a little more than 260 000 km.

The History of the Monaco Grand Prix

Anthony Nodges, the son of the president of the Automobile Club de Monaco, has founded the Monaco Grand Prix. Albert I, who was a prince of Monaco, entrusted Nodges with establishing the first international motorsport event in the world. The route was covering Europe and ending in Monaco.

The Automobile Club of Monaco was a regional racing club in France. Nodges and others were aiming to go to a new level, but the International Association of Recognized Automobile Clubs rejected the application because there were no motorcycle competitions in Monaco at the moment. They changed their decision after Noghes-Jr. established the Monaco Grand Prix in 1929. The next year, the Monaco Grand Prix became one of the competitions in the European Championship, and in 1950, it became apart of the Formula One World Championship.

Before the war, the Monaco Grand Prix was quickly gaining status, standing alongside other world-famous grand prix competitions. In the war years, the Monaco Grand Prix was canceled and resumed in peace time, excluding the years when any political events postponed the event.

Circuit de Monaco

The Circuit de Monaco Grand Prix is the main aim in the lives of the most successful racers in the world. This is the most complicated route in the Formula One World Championship, where every little mistake can throw all the racer’s efforts away. The path runs between Monte Carlo and La Condamine.

To triumph on the Circuitde Monaco, a racer must overcome a distance of 3,340 km without any errors. Many accidents have happened on this road in recent years, which makes it a dangerous zone that really presses on thenerves.

Due to the length of the Circuit de Monaco and the space it occupies, it takes a month and a half to build the circuit every time. One of the special features of the track is that it includes the slowest corner (the Fairmont Harpin, which requires a speed of 48 km/h), and the quickest corner (going down from the tunnel, taken at 260 km/h). This is the most dangerous of all the other circuits in Formula One.

Monaco Grand Prix Schedule

In contrast with mostraces, the Monaco Grand Prix is located on the streets of the city, and access to the sports ground is restricted. There are ten entrances for grandstands and safe tribunes, where spectators are protected from the dangers of the race by security wire. Some of the most important points in the schedule are the following:

Practice and qualifying sessions

The Grand Prix of Formula 1, the most awaited event of the program, is held on the last day, on May 29th. There are three practice sessions before and one qualifying (held a day before the Grand Prix on Thursday). Each of them lasts for an hour and a half. Drivers use these sessions to learn the circuit: they receive a scheme the day before the race. Teams develop their strategies. After practice sessions, drivers qualify by setting the quickest time on the road. The five slowest drivers then start at the back of the pack.

Formula Regional by Alpine

There are sessions on everyday of the race, excluding the 28th  May. This is acompetition for open-wheel single-seater motor vehicles and the racers who ride them. Both starting and professional drivers can compete.

Supercup Porsche Mobil 1

In the Porsche Supercup, drivers are matched up against each other. Points for the participants are given to the top-classified drivers of every round, and up to 24 professionals from 13 teams can race at one time. Each driver is the only person in the car. This is a support race for the Monaco Grand Prix and Formula 1, held on May 27-29 as a part of Formula 2.

Honour Lap and the National Anthem

These are the last events before the Grand Prix – the finishing and most important race. The grand finale honours the Princess and Prince of Monaco, and then the cars are off!

Finally, the GRAND PRIX!

Winners

Not only racers compete, but also constructors and engine manufacturers. Winners don’t get any prize money; instead, their teams pay them higher salaries. Their victory lies in their reputation and achievements, which will be remembered for many years. Teams receive prize money from the committee.

There is a trophy for the winners—an individual hand-crafted trophy travel case from Louis Vuitton.

There are several record-holders in the history of the Monaco Grand Prix. Ayrton Sennada Silva, from Brazil, had the most wins as a racer (6 times). McLarenRacing Limited, a British motor racing team, won 15 times as a constructor.

Further details

The 79th Monaco Grand Prix will take place on the Circuit de Monaco on May 26th – 29th in the Principality of Monaco.

Anastenaria In Greece

Anastenaria In Greece

Each year from May 21 till May 23 villagers in Northern Greece gather together for a celebration that, for sure, is not for yellow-bellied. The event is also widely celebrated in Bulgaria.

That is fire walking. A cruel ordeal for both spirit and body, some might say.

Yet, people celebrating it do not associate it with paganism. No doubt, for the Greeks, this ritual is something else.

Traditionally, it is a Christian celebration. Though the Greek Orthodox Church has long declared the fire walkers pagans, it does not anathematize those who still believe that their Saints Constantine and Elena patronize them.

The preparations for the celebration are methodically thought through. They begin preparing in winter when the community of the Anastenarians decides which animal to sacrifice. Most often, that is either a black ram or a bull to bear that fate. Surely, the animal must meet certain standards.

Of course, it does not look any close to Orthodox, but it does not have to. In fact, this is about the cult of the god Dionysus, and there is no such thing in Orthodoxy.

In the morning comes an immolation. After dividing the ram, people eat it and go home for a while, to return in the evening. Then, everyone gathers in churches and chapels and decorates them with icons. The music of the tambourine and lyre flows free, people start dancing euphorically.

The smell of incense is swirling in the air.

This dance allegedly, as believed, let them enter a trance. Then they gather in the centre of their town. That is when the most exciting part comes in. The bonfires, that had been lit shortly before, had already burned out by this time. The fire consumed the logs and only left hot coals. Now it is to be danced on.

The fire and the heat are their friends, they feel. Barefoot they walk, not getting any injuries as their faces express no pain, only joy and ecstasy, a pleasure to be blessed by their Saints.

The history of Anastenaria goes back to the days. According to legend, there was a fire in a Bulgarian church. That brings us to year 1250.

The Crusader invasion.

According to legend, the Church of St. Constantine caught fire due to the intervention of enemies. From the inside of the burning building sounded the voices of saints, who begged locals for help. Not surrendering to the fire, those people bravely entered the building. While saving their patrons’ icons, they suffered no injury.

It is like Greeks walk on the cool sand, which is washed by the waves of their sea. Not on the burning coals. That may quite surprise a casual tourist passing by, but there is no trace of burns on their feet demonstrated shortly after.

After the holiday, residents visit their friends and loved ones for two days, help themselves, and prepare treats. One must visit a house, following the ancient tradition. First going around the house counterclockwise, and only entering it then.

Everything on the table is plain and grown in their own gardens.

In Bulgaria, this tradition has been preserved as entertainment for tourists. Yet, in some villages of Greece, the holiday is authentic. It’s a big part of the local history and culture, one brave tourist should try themselves.
