Dune Bashing Will Blow Your Mind

Dune Bashing Will Blow Your Mind

Rahul Jaiswal is a creative sales manager and an marketing specialist in Dubai. He is committed to his profession because he believes tourism is an excellent way to serve the world.

Since 2017, he has managed business partnerships for Navita Tourism LLC, which works with GetExperience. He told GE why do people’s minds explode on dune bashing, and where is Dubai’s historical soul hidden.

What odd incidents happened during your experiences?

During the excursions, a lot of strange things happen. I’d like to highlight one particular occurrence that is both amusing and intriguing. One of our safari drivers was bringing several visitors to the desert one day. They asked the driver to give them the finest dune bashing experience possible (this is the most interesting activity in the desert where the driver drives the SUV through the high dunes of the desert). It’s full of thrills and excitement. They were screaming like children during the dune bashing.

When the dune bashing was finished, all of the attendees were ecstatic, but one of the guests who particularly enjoyed the dune bashing stood out. He became very solemn at times after laughing uncontrollably at others. We were concerned about what had happened to the man. When our driver asked if everything was well when he returned to his hotel, he claimed he was so delighted he had never had such excitement in his life, which is why he acted abnormally. We breathed a sigh of relief.

What kinds of tourists do you see the most?

There are three types of tourists, in my opinion:

Young Tourists: These tourists like modern Dubai.

Middle Age Tourists: Both historical and modern Dubai appeal to these tourists.

Old-age Age Tourists: They like to explore historical and old Dubai, but they also take advantage of the opportunity to see modern Dubai.

Dubai is a relatively new city, and many people believe it lacks soul. What are your thoughts on this?

People who believe that modern Dubai ignores Arabian culture in the sake of modernity are mistaken. Wherever you go in Dubai, you will find a combination of modern and traditional architects.

Look at the iconic Burj Al Arab. It appears to be a modern structure, but its shape is reminiscent of a traditional Arabic boat. If you go inside the Burj Al Arab, you will find wonderful examples of Arabic craftsmanship, and right next to it is a traditional shopping center called Madinat Jumeirah, which provides another glimpse of Arabian culture.

Take a look at the recently built Future Museum, which is full of technological attractions on the inside but seems more traditional from the outside, giving the impression of Arab culture.

There are other examples where traditional and modern architects coexist. Without a doubt, Dubai is one of the world’s most modern cities, but it retains its old values and traditions.

Inti Raymi, Inca Sun Festival

Inti Raymi, Inca Sun Festival

Around the year 1200, the Inca civilization began in Cusco. The Incas worshiped a variety of gods, but the Godfather Sun was the most powerful. No sun, no life.

The Incas congregating were coming from far away, bringing the best of their products they harvested and the nicest animals they bred in a year. They desired to make offerings to the Pachamama, or Mother Earth, whom they believed to be alive.

Nowadays, on June 24th, the Inti Raymi is still commemorated by performers who continue to speak Quechua in order to honorably portray the Inca, who are their ancestors.

«Inti» means the Godfather Sun, and «Raymi», festivity.

Why June 24th?

The Incas came to Cusco during the summer solstice because they knew the Godfather Sun would be passing through this sacred location. They used to honor God on June 21, but the date was altered to June 24 after they had to accept the Spanish invasion. According to the Roman calendar, June 24 is the day of Midsummer. Unfortunately, the Catholics pushed this new concept so thoroughly that the Incas began to celebrate their important Inti Raymi on these dates as well. When Catholics arrived in Cusco, they were startled to find Incas carrying their dead on their shoulders, according to locals.

All of these customs passed into history and were forgotten for a long time. Until the early 1900s, when some neighborhoods made the decision to reintroduce Incan rituals. The majority of our celebrations during those days are, of course, related to the Cusco festivities. Everyone strives to pass at least one day during that month, starting with small degrees in school such as kindergarten, primary, and secondary. All of these celebrations are in honor of Cusco’s anniversary days.

The beginning is the temple

The event always begins in the Qorikancha Inca temple, which is considered the most important Inca temple because it is where the majority of the many idols are gathered. Then they make their way all the way to the main square, traveling through those exquisite Inca streets, with their magnificent Inca stonework, whose roadways were precisely aligned with one another. By strolling between these streets, you’ll arrive at the main square, where they’ve set up an Ushno (a kind of altar) in the center, where the Inca will come up and deliver a brief statement explaining what they’re going to do and why.

Then this Inka and his troupe of dancers, as well as others accompanying him, would gradually make their way up to Sacsaywaman. They still celebrate Inti Raymi in the large flat fields of Sacsaywaman, as they did before this Inti Raymi.

Sacrifices

They used to sacrifice animals, particularly black llamas, as was tradition. And, as is customary, they make Chicha, a corn-based Incan beverage. All of these were shown to the Godfather Sun for the mountains surrounding them in that mythical method they used to live before.

Cusco festivities, especially Inti Raymi, are so important to modern Incas because it is their culture. That’s where they come from.

Shot Sage Blue Marilyn Sold For $195 M

Shot Sage Blue Marilyn Sold For $195 M

Andy Warhol’s 1964 silkscreen portrait of Marilyn Monroe, arguably one of the most recognizable images born of the last century, sold for a record-setting $195 million (including fees) at Christie’s New York on Monday evening. The result makes it the most expensive work by a 20th-century artist ever to be sold at auction.

It was sold to art dealer Larry Gagosian, who was bidding in the room.

The painting, Shot Sage Blue Marilyn (1964), depicts a press photo from Monroe’s 1953 noir film Niagara. The image is one Warhol used repeatedly in his work until his death in 1987. It derives from his “Shot Marilyn” portrait series, which Warhol produced after an incident at his downtown studio when he prompted a collaborator, Dorothy Podber, to shoot into a stack of canvases.

The result for this 1964 work almost doubled the artist’s previous auction record of $105.4 million, set when his 1963 canvas Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster) sold at Sotheby’s in 2013. The present lot had been held in a private collection for five decades.

With the sale, Christie’s also rode a double-pronged pop culture wave of renewed interest in both Warhol and Monroe. This year, Netflix released a six-part documentary series, The Andy Warhol Diaries, looking at the artist’s personal life, as well as a documentary film, The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes. And at the Met Gala just last week, Kim Kardashian appeared in Monroe’s 1962 custom-made nude gown, which the star infamously wore when she sang a breathy “Happy Birthday” to John F. Kennedy, mere months before her death. Kardashian’s decision to wear the actual dress on the red carpet caused a stir among fashion archivists.

Four bidders — one on the phone with Christie’s co-chairman of Impressionist and Modern, Adrien Meyer, two others on the phone with New York specialists, and a bidder in the room — competed for the work, which was the last lot of the night.

Offered without a financial guarantee, the painting hammered at a bid of $170 million, going to Gagosian, the room bidder, for a final price of $195 million. The hammer price was $30 million below the $200 million estimate upon request that Christie’s had given it ahead of the auction.

The work was sold from the estate of Swiss art dealers Thomas and Doris Ammann, siblings who co-founded Thomas Ammann Fine Art in 1977, which long boasted a roster of high-profile collectors of contemporary art. Doris, who survived her brother, ran the enterprise until her death at age 76 in March 2021.

Not only did Shot Sage Blue Marilyn bring a new Warhol record, it has also become one of the most expensive works of art ever sold at auction, surpassing Pablo Picasso’s Les Femmes d’Alger (“Version O”). That painting sold at Christie’s for $179 million in 2015 to Qatari royal Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. (The most expensive work ever to sell at auction was Salvator Mundi, attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, for $450 million.)

Works from the famed “Shot Marilyn” series, of which there are only five, David Shapiro said, have long been highly sought after, and there are only a handful of private collectors with the means to gain one. Though the milestone price brings Warhol to rival Picasso as the most valuable artists of the modern age, Shapiro said, “Within the greater market for trophy art, the figure of $200 million is very much in keeping with prices realized in the private dealer market for quite a few years.”

Partying On Ibiza

Partying On Ibiza

To all of you, party-lovers, Ibiza is going to give a long-lasting impression.

The patron of Ibiza is believed to be the Egyptian God – Bes, who is also the deity of music, merriment, fertility, sexuality, and humour. No wonder tourists have so much fun going to Ibiza during the club-partying season.

This God’s power is affecting this tiny island energy till today – from the end of the spring till the beginning of fall.

It all started in the 90th. Back then, it probably may be called a golden age. People still love it here, as this place gives you everything: famous DJs, huge dance floors, food and drinks of all sorts. Now, people here are something, starting with clubbers, queer folks, dancers, artists, musicians, and more.

Let’s now clear it up on the music. It’s a common thought that playlists are techno, house, or trance, yet, music styles are quite diverse here – one simply needs to pick the right club to visit.

Сlubs of Ibiza

Amnesia is famous for its parties and variety of shows. It’s in the middle of the island, near San Rafael.

Pacha. This place is open for you all year round. You’ll know it when you see the two cherries logo. The dance floor is super wide, as it may fit around 5000 people at once. And the playlist will satisfy any music taste.

Privilege may take 10000 people under the wing at once.

Between dancing, one may rest in the pool. The location is in the middle of the island as well.

Space – the place is near the airport. After-parties are to die for.

Es Paradis – Its design choices make this place look super funky: vibrant colours, and the whole spectrum of music genres. The Fiesta Del Aqua program will blow your mind as one of the dance floors goes deep under the water.

Eden is a recently-opened one. Go to the waterfront in San Antonio.

Boat parties& beaches of Ibiza

If you’re into partying right out in the sea, look no further. For the boat parties – are just the thing for you. Imagine cruising and having fun from dusk till dawn. Whatever the route is, the passengers get to see the most unforgettable sunsets of their lives.

Now, let’s see what Ibiza has to offer to sunbath-lovers. We suggest you not waste your time at the beaches like Bossa, Bora Bora, Talamanca, and other most popular ones. They may be near the cities of Ibiza and San Antonio, yet, we’ve found a few needles in a haystack for you.

Platja de Comte

It’s actually three beaches in one, located in the very northwest of the island. The nearby island is something to see, as well as the panorama of the northern and western coasts. One of the beaches is a nude one – keep it in mind.

Cala Tarida

If surfing, come here to catch a perfect wave. Want to impress your Instagram subscribers? Consider taking a picture in the centre of the beach, as there is a massive stone going right into the sea!

Cala Salada

This place is perfect for couples. The sunset here is going to make you tear up as you’re walking down the stairs from the cliff. The only things that remind you that it’s not a wild beach are charming boathouses and tiny cafes.

Cala Bassa

White sand and emerald water are for you on the west of San Antonio. You may as well want to go along the beach line to stumble upon a perfect place for snorkelling under the cliff.

Cala d’Hort

Come here for the sunset, as it may be the best view in Ibiza. Rent a table in the restaurant nearby in advance and witness the rocky islands of Es-Vedra slowly drowning into the night.

Sa Caleta

That may be quite a tiny beach, yet, it is the only one with red rocks in Ibiza. Fish restaurant right in the gorge between the rocky shores for you to gaze into the sea while dining.

So, come visit Ibiza. It’s a never-ending summer here, open-minded people who have learned dancing before taking their first steps.

Ibiza is where Freddie Mercury celebrated his birthday in 1987, where hippies gathered in 70th, and where celebrities go nowadays.
