Morocco launches a new travel promotion campaign as the COVID-19 travel restrictions are relaxed
Morocco has eased COVID-19 restrictions for tourists in a bid to recover the country’s travel sector. Vaccinated visitors no longer need to take a PCR test before entering the country. Earlier this year, in February, The Kingdom reopened its borders for fully vaccinated travelers for the first time since the pandemic hit. Now the visitors must present a valid vaccination passport or a negative result of a PCR test, taken 72 hours prior to departure.

In another attempt to rebuild the travel industry in the country, The Moroccan National Tourism Office has launched a promotion campaign ‘Kingdom of light’ aimed at attracting more journey-seekers. This move is crucial for Morocco as it heavily relies on tourism, which accounts for about seven percent of the country’s economy.
“This campaign aims to put Morocco on a list of the world’s top ten travel destinations. The tourism industry is critical to our economy, which before the pandemic, represented 7% of GDP”
This campaign will focus on 17 countries, where people show the most interest in Morocco as their travel destination. France, Germany, the UK, Spain and the U.S. are at the top of the list. ‘Kingdom of light’ will uncover Morocco’s uniqueness by highlighting its most attractive sites and visualizing its identity.
Many Moroccan contemporary artists took part in this campaign presenting to the world Morocco’s culture and heritage through dance, music and art.
