Oktoberfest Comes Back After Hiatus

Published on July 20, 2022

Oktoberfest, the world’s most iconic annual beer festival, is finally back in 2022 following two years of cancellations.

According to the official website of the event, Dieter Reiter, the mayor of Munich, gave the green light to the 187th Oktoberfest. It will take place from September 17 to October 3, restriction-free.

With all due consideration, the decision was not one easy to make. The mayor mentioned that the event might still be canceled if the government decides to reinforce the pandemic measures.

This will be the first official Oktoberfest in two years, since the celebrations last year and the year before were canceled because of COVID restrictions. The event will start with the traditional “first tapping” of the beer ritual, followed by a parade featuring horse-drawn carriages, politicians, brewers, and the merry crowds.
